The fascination for Madeira island makes us sometimes forget that there is much more to see and to do than what you may find in our main island. I mean by this, the fact that our archipelago consists of other interesting smaller islands, such as Porto Santo with its completely different kind of landscape and yellow natural sandy beach, Desertas islands and Selvagens islands.
The majority of our visitors and a large number of the local people never had the chance to do a boat trip to visit the isolated Desertas islands, therefore, Madeira Happy Tours have arranged in association with the leading boat trip companies, Bonita da Madeira, Ventura do Mar and Gavião one full day excursion available five days per week to sail onto Desertas islands.
Desertas are three uninhabited islands located at approximately fifteen miles South-East of Madeira island. They make part of the Natural Reserve, which is focused mainly on the protection of the rarest species of monk seal (Monachus monachus) and it is also known as an important sea bird sanctuary.
Sailing towards Desertas islands, one has the great chance for shooting excellent photographs of Madeira from the sea line and heading through the Atlantic Ocean to reach our goal.
When we arrive to the bay of Desertas, the astonishing tranquility of this marvellous scenery will invite you to swim, dive or just relax taking your time to admire the blue turquoise sea around you.
While on board, a delicious lunch shall be served to our guests and afterwards, one will be able to make a visit ashore in the island and learn something about the wild life.
The journey will be back to Funchal city in the evening.
Looking forward to see you in Madeira Happy Tours office.
